Looking for Bangladesh vs New Zealand where to watch details? Bangladesh and New Zealand are all set to lock horns in the 11th match of Cricket World Cup 2023 on Friday, October 13 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai.
The Tigers, led by Shakib Al Hasan, started their campaign in an emphatic manner after beating Hashmatullah Shahidi’s Afghanistan by six wickets at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala. After opting to field first, Bangladesh bowled their opposition out for 156 in 37.2 overs.
Bangladesh vs New Zealand head to head record
Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz were exceptional after they picked up three wickets apiece. Shoriful Islam was lackluster in his opening spell before taking the wickets of Azmatullah Omarzai and Naveen-ul-Haq. Taskin Ahmed and Mustafizur Rahman picked up one wicket apiece as well.
The Tigers had their challenges in their run-chase as both their opening batters, Tanzid Hasan Tamim and Litton Das failed to make an impact. However, Miraz and Najmul Hossain Shanto put on 97 runs for the third wicket to put Bangladesh in a position of command.
Miraz again showed why he can be a quality all-rounder. The right-hander scored 57 runs off 73 balls with five fours before Naveen accounted for his wicket. Shanto kept growing in stature as a dependable batter after he scored 59 runs off 83 balls with three fours and one six.
As far as New Zealand are concerned, they made a thunderous start to their campaign after handing defending champion England a nine-wicket defeat at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
The way Rachin Ravindra and Devon Conway played showed that the Black Caps are not here in India to make up the numbers. The experiment to send Ravindra at No.3 in the batting lineup also paid rich dividends. Matt Henry was the pick of the bowlers for New Zealand after he picked up three crucial wickets.
The Kiwis will go into their match against Bangladesh as firm favorites owing to their past records. New Zealand have won all five of their matches against the Tigers in the 50-over World Cup. The last time when the two teams met at the Kennington Oval in London four years ago, the Kiwis beat Bangladesh by two wickets. Ross Taylor won the award for the Player of the Match after he scored 82 runs off 91 balls with nine fours.
