ICC World Cup Points Table. The ICC World Cup or the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup is undoubtedly the biggest event in cricket and one of the most watched events in the sporting world. The tournament is played every four years.
The first edition of the World Cup was played in 1975 with 8 teams participating in it. England was the host for the first edition as well as the following two editions. The tournament was moved out of England for the first time in 1987.
So far, 12 editions of the ICC World Cup have taken place. Australia is the most successful side in the history of the tournament, having won it 5 times. They won the tournament in 1987, 1999, 2003, 2007, and 2015. Apart from Australia, only West Indies and India have won the tournament more than once.
While West Indies won the tournament in 1975 and 1979, India won it in 1983 and in 2011 when they became the first team to lift the trophy on home soil. Apart from the trio, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, and England have also won the World Cup. The much-anticipated ICC World Cup 2023 is scheduled to be played in India in the coming months.
