England Will Defeat India In Final: James Anderson
While speaking to BBC Test Match Special, right-arm pacer James Anderson made some predictions for ICC World Cup 2023. Anderson feels that India, England, Australia, and South Africa are four teams that will reach the semi-finals. He also added that England will defeat India in a tight final.
“The semi-finalists will be England, India, Australia, and South Africa. I like how South Africa turned it around in their series against Australia.
“Their batting is strong and they have nice options with the ball. Pakistan will be close, as will New Zealand, but both will miss out. I can see England beating India in a tight final,” James Anderson said.
Talking about England’s opening game against New Zealand, Jos Buttler & Co. batted first in the match. They piled up 282-9 on the scoreboard in 50 overs. Joe Root scored the most 77 runs for the team. Jos Buttler added 43 runs. Other batters failed to add runs on the board.
However, New Zealand batters showcased impeccable batting to win the match by 9 wickets. Devon Conway slammed an unbeaten 152 while Rachin Ravindra smacked 123 not-out to drive the team to a lopsided victory by 9 wickets.
England will now face Afghanistan in the next encounter. The match takes place on October 15. The venue of the encounter is Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi.
