Hasan Ali has made a rollicking comeback after being taken to cleaners in the match 8 of the ICC World Cup 2023 against Sri Lanka. The Dasun Shanaka-led side won the toss and opted to bat first at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Sri Lanka lost Kusal Perera early but after that, it has been a run feast in Hyderabad. Pathum Nissanka smashed a vital half-century but the real blitz came from the bat of Kusal Mendis, who smashed a staggering century and took Pakistan bowlers to the cleaners.
Kusal Mendis in particular attacked Hasan Ali and smashed him all over the park. The pacer, however, took his revenge and removed the keeper-batter. He then continued his good bowling as he then sent Charith Asalanka packing as well.
But the credit for Charith Asalanka’s wicket goes to Mohammad Rizwan. The keeper-batter took a brilliant diving catch that sent the batter packing. Hasan Ali bowled a length delivery that was angling away. The batter played a loose shot but ended up getting up an edge.
As the ball took the outside edge the ball went in flash. Mohammad Rizwan behind the stumps dived to his left and in front of the first slip to take it with both hands. Hasan Ali then celebrated the wicket his iconic trademark blow-up celebration.
Charith Asalanka managed just 1 run in his innings. Pakistan need to pull their socks up as Sri Lanka batters have taken them to the cleaners. They look all set for a big total and it promises to be a thrilling contest.
PAK vs SL: Hasan Ali Removes Kusal Perera on 4-ball duck
Pakistan pacer Hasan Ali started the innings on high. The fast bowler provided his team with the early breakthrough as he removed Kusal Perera for a four-ball duck.
The pacer bowled a brilliant delivery to which the batter tried to slash, he got the outside edge and was pouched by Mohammad Rizwan with ease.
Hasan Ali has looked like the best Pakistan bowler so far in the game. Even though he was taken to runs by Kusal Mendis, he has bowled impeccable lines and lengths. The pacer so far has picked three wickets and would be hoping to make it 5.
