NZ vs NED: Match 6 of the ICC World Cup 2023 took place between New Zealand and Netherlands on Monday (9th October) at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. The game was dominated by the Black Caps all throughout as they batted and bowled exceptionally well.
New Zealand was asked to bat first and they had a decent start despite playing three maiden overs. Devon Conway (32) and Will Young (70) smashed vital half-centuries and added 67 runs for the opening partnership. Mitchell Santner however, made sure that New Zealand didn’t give their start away as he blasted 36 runs off 17 balls to power the Black Caps to a total of 322 runs. For the Netherlands Roelof van der picked two wickets whereas Paul van Meekeren and Aryan Dutt also bagged two wickets each.
In the second innings, Netherlands was jolted with early blows as Vikramjit Singh (12), Max ODwod (16) and Bas de Leede (18) perished early. Colin Ackerman (69) held the one end and stitched crucial partnerships with Teja Nidamanuru (21) and Scott Edwards (30) but they all wasted the starts they got. Mitchell Santner picked up five wickets in no time whereas Matt Henry also contributed three wickets as New Zealand bundled out the opposition for 223 runs to win the game by 99 runs.
